About error 6147

This error is related to the company file of your QuickBooks. Trying to access a company file or restoring the backup file will lead to this error flashing on your screen. The dialogue Box mentions a problem with the data file because any damage to your QB files will lead to this error.

Causes

Solutions-

Before trying any of the methods, you are advised to update your QuickBooks, OS (Windows, Mac, etc.), and every QuickBooks tool used.

Solution 1- Close all the QuickBooks processes

First of all, reach your host/Server computer and log in as an Administrator account. Then follow the steps given below-

1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Esc simultaneously to open the task manager.
2. Select the Users
3. You’ll see a list of all the ongoing processes. Search for any processes related to QuickBooks, e.g. EXE, qbupdate.exe, and QBDBMgr.exe.
4. Click on each of them and tap End Task.

 Solution 2-Renaming Files & running database server manager.

Follow the steps given below-

1. Open the folder with your company file.
2. Lookout for files with the same name as your company file but with extensions .ND & .TLG.

(Example- Companyfilename.QBW.ND or Companyfilename.TLG)

3. Right-click on the files and choose Rename.
4. Add .OLD at the last of the company file name.
