• Some account name adjustments might be needed before converting the data.
• After creating an online account, 60 days are given to convert the data. You need to request a new one, if the time limit is exhausted.
• The process replaces the existing information in QuickBooks online with the Desktop one. A message appears on screen before any data is overwritten.
• Payroll: Ensure that taxes are paid and any ex-employee is marked as inactive before the conversion takes place.
• Reports: In the Desktop version, run the profit and loss report and balance sheet beforehand and match it with the post-conversion data.

Process

1. Sign up for QuickBooks online, login to your account and complete your profile.
2. In the Desktop software, select company > export company file to QuickBooks online.
3. A pop up window will ask you to login to QuickBooks online. Follow the given instructions.
4. Conversion begins. It might take up to 24 hours. You will receive an email once the conversion completes.
5. Check your post-conversion data to make sure data is transferred properly.
